7 Ways to Spring Clean Your Business

“You must prune to bloom. If the dead weight is not pruned and removed, it compromises the quality, performance, and output of the vine. When you prune what’s not working in your life, you make the space and place for renewal to happen and for new growth to spring forth.”

— Susan C. Young, motivational speaker

To welcome this season of new beginnings, we traditionally embark on spring cleaning routines to freshen up our homes. Businesses can also benefit from some spring cleaning activities to take advantage of the re-openings of in-person businesses across the country. Here are some ideas that will make a big difference for you, your staff and your customers.
Spring into Action with These 7 Ways to Deep Clean Your Business
1. De-Clutter Your Personal Work Space
Schedule some time to throw out or file any loose papers. Scan what you need to save and if you don’t need to save a hard copy, throw it out. When too much paper accumulates on your desk, your productivity and motivation suffer. Even the most organized people can benefit from a deep desk cleaning once a year.
2. Manage Your Email
If your inbox count is in the thousands, create a plan to eliminate what you don’t want to save and manage incoming emails going forward.
3. Review Your Computer or Server File Organization
Analyze whether your digital filing system is still serving the needs of your business. Computer files and folders have a tendency to become disorganized over time. If your team shares files to a server, review ground rules of what to save and where in the filing system.
4. Audit Your Website
Do a page-by-page analysis to look for bad or broken links and any outdated language about your business.
5. Power Clean Your Physical Retail or Operations Space
Go beyond routine cleaning to deep clean your operations and/or retail space to make sure what your customers – and your employees – see reflects the right image of your business and who you are.
6. Refresh Employee Uniforms and Wash Company Vehicles
Examine uniforms to see if they need replaced or updated for a fresh, spiffy look. Give all company vehicles a deep cleaning inside and out.
7. Make Your Spring Holiday Marketing Plans
The arrival of spring means some big holidays are around the corner: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduations. How will your business mark these dates?
